Lesson 10: Electronic Signatures

In this lesson, ComplyPro discusses the requirements for electronic signatures on Forms W-8 and W-9. The IRS permits electronic signatures on these forms if certain criteria are met. For the Form W-8, the signature should reasonably demonstrate electronic signing by an authorized person and include a time and date stamp. The Form W-9 also requires an electronic signature as the final part of submission. Electronic signatures must be made under penalties of perjury.
